    IMLS Offers Support for College and University Libraries

    The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has announced the next competition for two key library programs of interest to colleges and universities (as well as accompanying webinars): the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program and National Leadership Grants for Libraries. Information and application tips for these and other IMLS programs (including the IMLS museum programs) will also be presented in a special session at the 2018 GRC Funding Competitiveness (February 20-23) in Washington, D.C. by IMLS Senior Program Officers Ashley Sands and Mark Isaksen.

    USAID Launches IHE-Led Global Development Research Collaboration

    The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is announcing the launch of a new cooperative agreement, the Long-Term Assistance and Services for Research. One institution of higher learning will be responsible for creating and supporting a large and varied network of university researchers, organizations, and faculty (in the United States and in USAID partner countries) to partner with USAID missions, bureaus, and independent operating units.

    State Department Funding to Protect Global Cultural Heritage

    Many cultural heritage sites and collections around the world are facing threats from conflict, neglect, or just a lack of resources. The U.S. Department of State’s Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation provides support for eligible non-commercial organizations (including colleges and universities) to preserve cultural sites, cultural objects, and even forms of traditional cultural expression in more than 100 developing countries..

    Humboldt State University’s Innovative New Center for Teaching & Learning

    GRC member Humboldt State University (HSU) (Calif.) recently announced the opening of the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL), a refuge and collaborative learning space designed for faculty to explore learning-centered and culturally relevant experiences alongside of their peers.
